Be Resilient



One day, a 69-year-old ended up needing an emergency life-saving surgery.

It came as a surprise since this gentleman was generally active and healthy and had no prior health issues.

Post-surgery the doctors told him, “You are only getting older so there is no point to do things that may hurt yourself! You need to stop doing crazy things.”

But this guy was not one to sit around and feel sorry for himself. His goal was to stay active as much as possible. After all, he has a lot of life left. Kids and grandkids he wants to stick around for.

He decided to take action and find the right guidance to help him keep doing the activities he wanted to do.

He wanted to figure out what he could do vs being told a list of things he can’t.

He realized that medical doctors and the traditional PTs he saw were not equipped to help him get to the next level.

If he had listened to her doctor’s advice and given up, he wouldn’t be doing this “crazy” stuff now.

So here’s the lesson: sometimes, doctors don’t know everything. It’s important to trust your instincts and do your own research. And if you’re struggling with an injury or health issue, don’t give up! There are always other options.

I know he is grateful for the opportunity to work with someone who understood his goals.
